Members of Soroptimist International of Lodi recently celebrated the club’s 70 years of service in Lodi. The club is a combination of the original SI Lodi club and SI Lodi Sunrise. The clubs joined forces this year. The dinner event was held at Richmaid Restaurant.

Soroptimists is a service organization whose mission is "Soroptimist Improves the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment." They support local groups that serve women and children, including Hope Harbor Shelter for Women and Children, Lodi House and Second Step and Family Ties organization. In March, the members celebrated Love Lodi day and Soroptimist Saturday of Service by sorting and sizing donated clothing at Hope Harbor Shelter.

New members are welcome. For more information, you are encouraged to visit the Soroptimist of Lodi website at www.lodisoroptimist.org or Soroptimist International of Lodi on Facebook.

 65th Birthday

On April 20, 2010, we celebrated our 65thLodi. birthday at Phillip’s Farms.  We had a lovely lunch and raffle, winding it up with a beautifully decorated cake, donated by Sharon Salomon.

Special guests included Barbara and Richard Giambastini, Deb Shook, Brenda Kosaka, and Linda Kronemann.  The Spa Basket, which included two manicures and one pedicure as well as lots of pampering products, was won by Linda Kronemann of Lodi Sunrise.

Germaine read our club history to the group, and shared the many projects we have taken on in the community throughout the years.  This year, we have been actively helping the Salvation Army Hope Harbor with donations to their shelter for homeless women and children, PB & J collections to help provide kids’ lunches, December Bell Ringing, and Christmas gift packing.  We sponsored a table at the annual Kettle Kick-off Luncheon and at the Salvation Army Annual Dinner.  We also have reserved a table for the Festa Della Donna, May 12, a fundraiser supporting both Lodi House and Hope Harbor.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make this a success.  Thanks to the committee  consisting of Barbara, Ora and Bernice.

 Barbara Warburton, Birthday Chairman
